As some of you know, Haiti is in political turmoil. President Moise has declared civil war. The gangs are in control…they are burning everything from hotels and grocery stores to small vendors on the side of the road, even the airport. They have roadblocks everywhere — burning tires and automobiles — to stop people so they can extort money from everyone. They are killing people and raping women as they please. The police have not been paid in 6 months, so they are not really enthusiastic about protecting the people of Haiti.
To make things even worse there is a gas shortage, due to the fact that they have not paid Venezuela for the gas they have already received. Gasoline cost is $13 a gallon, when they can get it. When the gas does arrive, people line up for miles to buy it, sleeping in their cars, hoping they will not run out. While they are waiting the gangs come with guns and break in line, which causes more chaos. The Haitian people cannot afford to take a tap-tap (small truck used for taxi) or motorcycles to go anywhere, because the drivers have to charge 5 times as much as usual due to the cost of gas. There is no UN in the country now, and the police are out-manned and out-armed. Please pray for Haiti, that God will intervene and restore peace.
Our biggest need now is food for the people in Z’Orange and for Ginette, Simon, Pariton, Dodo and Pastor DeVey (our cook and interpreters). Their only income is from Truth Ministries. We have had to cancel 9 teams this year–more than we have canceled in the last 20 years. Please pray that the Lord will help you know what to do to help our Haitian brothers and sisters. If He puts it on your heart to help with this need, you can send your gift to TEM, 1945 Patrician Way, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, or click on ‘Donate online using PayPal‘ on the right side of this page.
God bless…
