Rice & Beans 5K Rumble
MARCH 18, 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
With regret, we have decided to cancel this year’s Rice and Beans 5K Rumble.
We made this decision in response to the governor’s and president’s mandate to limit the size of public gatherings with the goal of limiting the spread of COVID-19. We understand that our race is still seven weeks away and many things can change with this rapidly changing situation, but our decision is intended to reduce the thrash for our sponsors, participants, and planning committee.
Thank you for your interest in our little race and for your understanding of our cancellation. This was intended to be our 10th and final race. We will be back on May 8, 2021 for the 10th and final installment of the Rice and Beans 5K Rumble.
The Rice and Beans 5K Rumble is held each year and is a family friendly 5K run/walk to benefit Truth Evangelistic Ministry and its efforts to support the people of Haiti.
The course is flat and shady through the neighborhoods around Truth Evangelistic Ministry. To better identify with the Haitian people, we are encouraging runners and walkers who are physically able to forgo breakfast and RUN HUNGRY. There will be plenty of food following the race to silence the RUMBLE in your tummy. Post-race food includes rice and beans, pulled pork sandwiches, and homemade desserts.
Awards: Overall, master, and grand master male/female for the run and top 3 in standard 5 year age groups. Overall and master male/female for the walk plus the top 5 male and top 5 female finishers. All Kid’s Run participants will receive an award.
The Rice & Beans Rumble is a 5K run/walk benefiting Truth Evangelistic Ministries (TEM), a Fort Walton Beach Christian organization that has been ministering to the needs of Haitians for over 15 years. All proceeds of the Rice & Beans 5K Rumble will go to TEM in its efforts to benefit the untold hungry in the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.
