Our group of 10 has arrived safe and sound in Z’Orange and we are working to prepare for the 3rd Annual Teachers Conference! The school waited for our arrival to celebrate the end of the school year with a party. Throughout the morning the students, teachers and families celebrated with songs, dance and skit presentations. Although the sun was hot, a nice breeze kept us cool as we watched the performances.
The afternoon was full with the assembly of care packages and teacher bookbags that will be handed out during our conference. It is overwhelming to see the outpouring of donations received to make this possible. We send out a big SHOUT of THANKS to so many that made the donations. We certainly take for granted having items like soap, shampoo, and toothpaste readily available to us on a daily basis.
I have enjoyed watching two of our ladies have the opportunity to visit with their sponsored children. We also have two other Cinco teachers ready and willing to sponsor a child and we are working to set that up! What a joy for sponsors… having the chance to see their student in person and also meet their families.
We look forward to the next few days enjoying the glory of the mountains around us, visiting with our Haitian friends, and of course, our Teachers Conference on Monday and Tuesday. We thank our Lord for the opportunity to be here in Haiti and for the blessings we will receive while here.
