As a new Christian, we really don’t understand God’s will for our life. We do know that God loves us and that that he gave us his son to die on a cross to save us from our Sins. As a more mature Christian, we understand what this love really means. We start to depend on the Holy Spirit more and more. And soon we hear the whisperings and feel the stirrings of the Holy Spirit. And suddenly, we think that we know the mind of the Holy Spirit. That’s where we begin to stumble and become confounded.
Mark Batterson, the Christian writer, wrote a book called CHASING THE WILD GOOSE. His book is about how Christians try to tame or discover the mysteries of the Holy Spirit. He likens it to trying to capture a wild goose. And if you ever tried catching a wild goose you know it “ain’t easy”.
What is God’s will for my life? We go left then right. Stop for a little while and then we back up and start all over. It’s not so much that we know where we are going. After all God told Abram to go and he did. He told the children of Israel to follow the great cloud but did not tell them where. I think the important lessons to learn from the examples in the Bible are to say yes Lord, yes I will go. Jesus sent the disciples out:
“When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3 He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. 4 Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. 5 If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” 6 So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere.” Luke 9:1-6
Jesus told the disciples to Pack Lite-“Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.”
Are you ready for your next adventure with the Lord. Then Pack Lite and Go. It is more important to Trust and Obey then to know where you are going! Good Luck and God Bless you!
