Will and I got a call from the team in Miami this morning at 5:30 a.m. telling us that they would be on an early flight and arrive in Haiti at 8 a.m. They had missed their flight Saturday and had to spend the night in Miami airport. We were ready to go when we received another call from them telling us that they were on the plane that had maintenance problems and had to deplane. After several delays they arrived in Haiti about noon.
We headed up to Z’OrangĂ© and had a good trip (no truck problems). After we arrived and got set up some of the team played soccer with the Haitian boys. We were blessed with a wonderful Haitian meal. Matt and Adam had been talking about wanting to eat goat all the way up the mountain and they got their wish. We had goat, rice, beans, a sauce for the rice and potatoes. Pastor Dorleon’s wife treats us so good here, as all the people do.
After our Haitian supper, we got ready to go to church. There were not a lot of people in church, maybe 40 to 50, because of the rain. It is bad enough that people have to walk home in the dark but when it is raining it is very slippery and dangerous. They also have no raincoats or umbrellas. Will preached and we had a great service. The Haitian people know how to worship. We could learn a lot from them on how to rejoice to our Lord.
Everyone was really tired after a long day so we were all asleep early.
