Today was a great day with the Lord – we purchased 28 bags of rice, 12 bags of beans and 6 cases of oil. Simon, Pariton, Blanco, the boys from Z’Orange and I went to several markets to buy the food from local merchants to help the economy here. Pastor Dorleon, Pastor Angelo and Pastor Michlete from Jerusalem I, II and IV were overjoyed with this food to help feed their people. Each church will give food out to their congregation members; if they don’t need it they will give it to someone who does, letting them know that their local church cares. Simon will also be taking food to Daniel’s voodoo village and the orphanage that is close to us.
The good news is that some of the gardens are okay; most of the gardens that were destroyed were around Jerusalem II and IV. Many of the huts need new roofs. The roof on Pastor John Renel’s father’s house was completely destroyed. Thanks to all of you, we were able to give him enough money to pay for his father to have a new roof!
I will be returning to Z’Orange on October 23. The pastors are making a list of all the people who need roof repairs. We will also be providing food for the next month.
I cannot thank you all enough for showing the love of Christ. I told all the Haitians that I spoke with that many Americans are praying for them, and they said please say ‘thank you.’ I wish you could have seen the smiles on their faces when we arrived with the food!
