Report by Team Leader Lisa Terrell
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use it, it will be measured to you.” This morning we were blessed to join in worship at New Jerusalem Church, right next to the mission house. What a blessing to see all the ladies and children dressed in their Sunday best. What a blessing that although we don’t always understand the words of the hymns sung in Creole, we sometimes recognize the tune and can sing right along in English. And knowing that every Sunday, when we return to America, our brothers and sisters here in Haiti will keep right on worshiping and praising God!
Bro. Chuck’s message from Matthew 6:38 reminded me of our team: God has given David and me this team of amazing young men and women for a week. Our job is to pour into them, study with them, support them, comfort them, and share this experience with them as they seek to pour themselves out in relationship with the Haitian people. We, as leaders, have certainly been given a “good measure” by God when he put together this team. They are truly “gelling” and enjoying working together to prepare for clinics beginning tomorrow. Last night they counted and bagged medications for hours, joyfully doing the work and enjoying getting to know each other better. To each parent of a child on this trip I want to say, your kid is AMAZING, and he (or she) is producing the fruits of your labor as a parent. Thank you for sharing your kids with us – and with the country of Haiti – this week. OUR laps are already running over with the love of Christ they are sharing.
