We’re excited to share an incredible update from Truth’s recent mission trip to Hong Kong, where we had the privilege of partnering with SEEDS English Ministry. This impactful ministry, led by dynamic leaders Pastor Anthony and Beth Brown, focuses on reaching children and families in Asia, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
The Mission Trip in a Nutshell
In July, Truth sent a team of Pam, Robin, Jan, and Prissy to Hong Kong for 18 days of outreach. This year, SEEDS English Ministry mobilized 38 college students to assist with translation and sharing the message of Jesus in local schools. The ministry’s reach extended to over 1,000 children through our Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs in 6 schools, as well as their families and the amazing volunteers who helped.
It was a truly international effort, with team members coming from the UK, USA, and Hong Kong, united in one purpose: to share the love of Christ with the next generation.
A Typical Day on the Mission Field
Our days in Hong Kong were long, but the work was rewarding. Here’s a look at our typical schedule:
• 7:00 AM: Start with coffee and/or breakfast.
• 7:30 AM: Leave for school, either by subway, public bus, or private bus.
• VBS Programs: We gathered with children ages 4-12, singing songs about Jesus, watching a cartoon about His time with the disciples, and discussing the lesson as a group.
• Small Group Time: The children were split into smaller groups (20 per group) for exciting activities like arts and crafts, science experiments, and recreation.
• Large Group Worship: We wrapped up the day with more singing, praising God together.
• 12:00 PM: Eat Lunch
• Go to the Next School: We did it all again!
• Returning to the Hotel: After grabbing supper we were usually back to the hotel by 8:30PM.
Impact Beyond the Classroom
Not only did we sow seeds of faith in over 1,000 children, but we also reached their parents and the volunteers who helped translate and lead activities. SEEDS Ministry is all about multiplying the impact of the gospel, and this year’s team was able to do just that, through the dedication of Pastor Anthony, Beth, and their incredible team.
