I can remember the days of coming home from college. The anticipation would start about Thursday. It was all I could do to attend my Thursday and Friday Classes. And it was not that I lived very far away or had been gone from home a long time. I just was just ready to come home.
My momma always had cooked something special for me when I arrived. She always greeted me at the door and took my dirty laundry straight to be washed. She was so excited to see me no matter what time of day that I had arrived. I felt welcome to be home.
One day Heaven will be calling us all home. It is something that we should all be anticipating. It is going to be a great homecoming. Jesus has said he has prepared a great feast at his table and a place for us to stay. He will be there with wide open arms. It’s going to be a wonderful day!
Are you ready? Have you reconciled with the Father and asked Jesus into your heart? Can you imagine your first breath of heaven and the first time that you open your eyes and look upon the Father? This life here on Earth is just a taste of what eternity will be. But without the sadness and sorrow.
So press on and continue the Kingdom’s work. It’s not quite time to leave yet but be ready just in case. And it’s OK to dream about the streets of gold. One day…soon and very soon we will all be home!
“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
